The days are getting shorter, and the temperatures are dropping but there are ways to keep up your energy level during the cooler, darker days of fall.

- Organize an outdoor sporting event. Before the snow starts to fall and the ground gets too hard from repeated cold weather, organize a football or soccer match or kickball tournament in your neighborhood. Find an open field or large yard where you can host this match. If your friends don’t have the sporting equipment, see if those participating can split the cost of the supplies needed.
- Find a trail. This is the great time of the year to hike, bike, run or walk scenic trails. Find a trail in your neighborhood and consider taking a friend. Take your camera along to capture the beautiful fall colors you may pass along the way.
- Find a festival. This is the time of the year when many county fairs take place as well as fall festivals. They offer a great chance to get outside and see what different craft vendors are offering. It could be a good time to start Christmas shopping while also getting a bit of fresh air. Take advantage of any local vendors selling fresh produce or organizations offering tours.
- Visit an apple orchard or pumpkin patch. Apples are in season in the fall and there are hundreds of varieties to choose from at apple orchards. Typically, pumpkin patches offer petting zoos, hayrides, corn mazes or hay bales to climb. These are fun activities the whole family can enjoy.
