-URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Coastal Hazard Message National Weather Service Tiyan GU 343 PM ChST Sat Feb 28 2026 Guam-Rota-Tinian-Saipan- 343 PM ChST Sat Feb 28 2026 ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST MONDAY... ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet and dangerous rip currents * WHERE...North, east, and south facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Monday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated trade-wind swell is expected to produce hazardous surf along north, east, and south facing reefs. Surf is taking a bit longer to start falling. Surf along east facing reefs is anticipated to fall below the 12 foot threshold before north and south facing reefs fall below their 9 foot threshold. The risk of rip currents will remain high along all 3 reefs through Monday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&
